The camera screen is still a wireframe, and that one is on me

Coinbramble left beta last month with a camera screen made of grey rectangles. It is the screen people open more than any other, and it is the one screen we have never finished drawing.

The honest reason is that every time it reached the top of the list, something arrived that a person could not work around. Sharing, then export, then Android, then approvals. A plain grey shutter button still works, so it kept waiting.

What has to be true before we redraw it

• The viewfinder has to work in a shop, at night, holding a bag.

• The amount field has to be reachable with one thumb on a large phone.

• Nothing on it can move between the tap and the photo.

• It has to survive being the screenshot on the front page, which is where it has been all along.

That picture is still on our own home page, which people occasionally write to us about. We left it there on purpose. Putting a drawing of a screen we have not built on the front page would have been the easier decision and a worse one.
